| Subject: Yahoo's European head steps down Mon 01 Dec 2008, 11:21 am | |
| Toby Coppel, Yahoo's European vice president and managing director of Europe and Canada, has announced he is stepping down from his post at the internet firm.
Coppel will be succeeded by Rich Riley, currently senior vice president of the firm's European Advertiser & Publisher Group, and a 10-year veteran at Yahoo. Riley will be based in Switzerland in the offices established by Coppel during his 18-month leadership.
"I have been transitioning our European business, restructuring it and making it stronger as Yahoo is moving to product development on a global platform," Coppel said in an interview with Kara Swisher from the AllThingsD blog.
"While there is more work, there is now a strong team in place focused on going forward and it needs to spread its wings. If we are streamlining and we mean it, it has to also start at the top."
Coppel said that his retirement has nothing to do with former Yahoo chief executive Jerry Yang's recent departure | |
