| Subject: Help! I think I screwed up my registry and can't logon! Tue 02 Dec 2008, 12:54 am | |
| I was trying to delete a pesky spyware program on my another laptop and was following instructions to delete the registry keys but I think I must have deleted something I shouldn't have and now (after entering my password) my computer just logs itself right back off after logging on. Of course, I have no registry backup...
Is there any hope at all?
It is a Dell Latitude laptop running XP. | |

| I think its called the "log on log off loop" problem. Can you still get on via safe mode? Try boot in safe mode, and do a recovery first, because then you won't loss everything saved on your laptop. If you can't get into Safe Mode, pop the XP cd you got with the laptop in and run a recovery. Also, reformatting should be a last option. | |
